A Christmas message from Bundaberg Uniting Church to You
The year 2020 will go down in history for being a year like no other. With the Coronavirus pandemic dominating our lives, forcing job losses, shutdowns, and home-schooling, many people will be quite keen to see an end to the tumultuous year. 2020 may have held other disappointments for you too; perhaps you have not been able to attend important family events, or have missed a loved one’s funeral, or had your graduation or holidays cancelled or any number of painful moments that you may have endured through this year. You may even have lost someone special through the pandemic, and if that is the case, our most heartfelt condolences go to you as you miss your loved one at Christmas.
Despite the difficulties of the year, it has been wonderful to see the Christmas spirit shown by our community, and the lights, tinsel and decorations are a reminder that Christmas brings to all of us, a new sense of hope. This hope enables us to look to the future instead of dwelling in the past. At Christmas we celebrate God’s greatest gift to us in the birth of Jesus Christ and this Christmas in particular, it is helpful to remember that Jesus was born into a turbulent world at a difficult time and the purpose of His birth was to bring peace, hope, love and joy. Our prayer for you and your family this Christmas is that in the midst of all that you’ve had to endure this year, you will find a new sense of hope in Jesus, and know the peace of God resting upon your life. We wish you and your family a blessed Christmas and a joyful, better 2021. May you know God’s love resting over you this festive season and may your life in 2021 be filled with His Joy. Merry Christmas Bundy, from Rev Stuart & Debi Bosch and the Bundaberg Uniting Church.
