In this sermon we explore a little of what it means to live in the Kingdom of God in terms of hope. What does it mean to live in Hope and why is it so important to do so. Jesus began several parables with these words: “The Kingdom of God is like…” Today we journey with the importance of the Kingdom of God being a Kingdom of Hope.

Forgiveness is one of the most difficult parts of Christianity. We love the fact that we have been forgiven and rejoice that God no longer remembers our sins, but we struggle to give that same forgiveness to others. This sermon explores the importance of both receiving and giving forgiveness, for that is what the Kingdom of God is about.

Our desire to be faithful to God can often be hampered by the failings of the past. We often hang onto these failings or hold onto habits and things that we should let go of in order to be able to move forward. Paul gives us a beautiful blue print of faithfulness as he says, “Forgetting what is past and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Isaiah tells us that God is doing a new thing. This sermon looks at how we apply these teachings so that we grow in our faithful Christian living.

Forrest Gump’s mother famously said that “Life was like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get.” Metaphors and similes for life are things that help us make sense of life and specific moments that we face. Some other examples include Shakespeare’s “Life is a stage,” or Bon Jovi’s, “Life is a roller coaster.” But what is God’s Metaphor for life? How does God think we should see life and makes sense of it? This sermon looks at three different metaphors gleaned from Paul that if lived out would significantly change the way we act in the world.

The sixth and final sermon in our series on the life and ministry of Paul. This sermon looks at the final few years of Paul’s life as he is taken to Rome as a prisoner and ultimately executed.
